How lessons work

Entrance-exam preparation is as much about technique and timing as it is about ability, so lessons pair skills teaching with practice under realistic conditions. Most lost marks at this age are unfinished papers rather than wrong answers.

For EAL students, the priority is the language the curriculum actually demands: the vocabulary and structures needed to follow lessons and write answers in other subjects, not English in the abstract.

The short version, if you read nothing else: there is no national 11+. What your child sits depends on your local authority, and registration usually closes in the summer term of Year 5, a full year before they would start Year 7.
