French lessons and resources

I teach French from complete beginner through to A Level, one to one and in small groups, entirely online.

What I teach

  • KS3 (Years 7–9) — building the foundations properly, so GCSE is not a cliff edge
  • GCSE and IGCSE — Edexcel 4FR1, Cambridge 0520, and the reformed AQA and Edexcel GCSEs first assessed in 2026
  • A Level and IAL — including the grammar, translation and essay skills that separate grades at the top end
  • Adults and beginners — for work, travel, or because you have always meant to

How lessons work

I teach from sentence builders rather than vocabulary lists. A sentence builder is a table that lets a student produce dozens of correct, meaningful sentences from their very first lesson, instead of memorising words in isolation and hoping they assemble later. Each structure is met many times in reading and listening before anyone is asked to produce it independently.

For exam classes this is planned from the specification itself — the assessment objectives and mark schemes — rather than from whatever a textbook happens to cover.

Free resources

There are also full self-paced French courses, free of charge, in the course library.

Getting started
