  • Imogen — A Level French

“I had tutoring with Issai for just under a year during my A levels and it is safe to say I wouldn’t have got into Uni without her help. She provided lots of great resources to help with both Reading and Writing, creating her own resources tailored to me and what areas I needed to focus on. These helped greatly. We spent a lot of our sessions practicing Speaking, the component I struggled with the most. Without this practice, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to score as highly as I did within my actual A levels with the Speaking being my best result. I would definitely recommend Issai to anyone struggling with or interested in learning the French language. Her tutoring helped me move up by 2 whole grades!”

Improved from grade D to B

  • Fiona — A Level French

“I had Issai for just under a year and her sessions significantly helped me with A Level French which I sometimes found quite challenging and fortunately, I ended up receiving an A*. I would definitely recommend, especially for the speaking exam, which I improved the most in.”

Went from grade C to A*

  • Tooba — GCSE French

“She is such a lovely tutor with excellent resources to aid her French lessons, she was such a big help during my GCSE days and without a doubt she is the main reason I managed to get a decent grade! Thank you Issai!”

Went from grade 5 to 8

How I teach

Most language courses front-load vocabulary lists and grammar rules and hope students assemble sentences later. I teach the other way round. Lessons are built on sentence builders — tables that let a student produce dozens of correct, meaningful sentences immediately — and each structure is met many times in reading and listening before students are asked to produce it independently.

For exam classes this is paired with the specification itself. I teach these courses week in, week out across Edexcel, Cambridge International and AQA, and lessons are planned from the assessment objectives and mark schemes rather than from whatever a textbook happens to cover.
